Dixit Components:

The game box includes a deck of 84 image cards, 6 game pieces, a scoreboard, voting tokens, and a rulebook.

Players: 3 to 6 players, though more can play with expansions.

Dixit Set Up:

1) Set the scoreboard in the center of the table.

2) Each player chooses a rabbit game piece and places it on the "0" space of the scoreboard.

3) Each player receives a set of voting tokens numbered according to the number of players (3 players, 3 tokens each; 4 players, 4 tokens; 5 players, 5 tokens; etc)

4) Shuffle the deck and deal six cards to each player. Players must keep their cards secret.

5) You are now ready to play.

Dixit Game Play:

1) Choose the Storyteller

The first storyteller is the player who last had a dream or you can decide randomly.

The storyteller selects a card from their hand and thinks of a clue to describe it. The clue can be a word, phrase, sound, or anything else.

2) Give the Clue

The storyteller says the clue out loud without showing the card.

3) Select Cards

Each other player selects a card from their hand that best matches the clue and gives it to the storyteller, face down.

4) Shuffle and Reveal

The storyteller shuffles all the chosen cards, including their own, and lays them face up on the table on the numbered spaces on the scoreboard.

5) Vote

Players (except the storyteller) secretly vote for the card they believe is the storyteller’s card by placing the corresponding voting token face down. The voting token number is the location of the card on the scoreboard that the player believed is the Storyteller’s card. Players cannot vote for their own card.

Once everyone has voted, reveal the tokens. The tokens are placed on the card they designate. The Storyteller then reveals his/her card.

6. Scoring

If all players or no players guess the storyteller’s card: The storyteller scores 0 points, and each other player scores 2 points.

If some players guess the storyteller’s card: The storyteller and those who guessed correctly each score 3 points.

Bonus Points: Each player (except the storyteller) scores 1 additional point for every vote their card received.

7. Move the Pieces

Move the game pieces forward on the scoreboard according to the points scored.

8. Draw New Cards

Discard all used cards. Each player draws back up to six cards, and the role of the storyteller passes to the next player clockwise.

9. Winning Dixit

The game continues until someone hits 30 points. If the deck runs out of cards or players decide to stop, the one with the most points on the scoreboard wins.
